Reaction time is also known as physiological
time. It refers to the time taken by an organism to elicit a response to a
stimulus. The speed with which the organism responds to a stimulus is R .T.
This process can be measured in milli secs. Using a chronoscope. Reaction time
is also known as the time that lapses between the stimulus and the response.
This lapse of time is due to message transmission by the receptor nerves to the
higher brain centers and dispatches of signals from these brain centers to the
motor organs to respond. R.T. varies from organism to organism and depends on
nature of stimulus such as intensity, length of presentation, attitude etc. To
establish this phenomenon R.T. apparatus is used.
